Rocky Mountain Environmental Concerns (RMEC) was founded in 2005 to provide Reclamation, EPA compliance and Light Excavation services to the Oil and Gas industry in the Piceance basin and surrounding areas. The principals in the company Mac and Jennifer Hampson had the experience and background to make this a simple transition from their former careers.

In 2004 the principals in RMEC moved to the Rifle area to form RMEC and begin operations in the Oil and Gas fields. Since then RMEC has serviced and continues to service Shell Oil Experimental division, Exxon Mobil, Conoco Phillips, EnCana Oil and Gas and XTO Energy. RMEC’s ongoing services to these companies include but are not limited to: site and road Reclamation, Hydro seeding, Drill seeding, Erosion control mat installation, All other storm water related activities, Light excavation, Snow removal, Spill clean up and mitigation, Suck truck services, Storm water inspection, water quality testing and Chemical and Mechanical Weed mitigation.

During the past 3 years RMEC has had the chance to test and perfect previously unapplied techniques and products to the unique environments of the western slope/ Rifle area. Having spent literally millions of dollars on R+D in the oil fields we have found what does and does not work. In the past 3 years RMEC has applied 300+ acres of Hydro Mulch in the worst conditions. From -14 degree weather to 400 foot long 1:1 sand slopes we have been there and found ways to accomplish the task. We have Drill seeded 1000+ acres of dry land in pastures, woodland, Sagebrush, Prairie, Oak brush you name a terrain or ecosystem on the western slope and chances are we’ve been there. About 40% of our reclamation work has been done in conjunction with the BLM on BLM lands.

All of our full time employees are all state certified storm water installers and supervisors. We have 4 state certified Storm water Inspectors presently on staff. Our combined experience between 6 core supervisors is well over 120 years in the farming and excavation industries. All of our staff has been through ENCOSHA Training including CPR training along with Conoco employee and Supervisor safety leadership training. We participate in the DISA drug program and Pinnacol’s voluntary safety program. In addition to all this RMEC also has its own ongoing safety training program which includes but is not limited to daily Tailgate meetings and weekly company wide meetings to address specific issues and concerns.

RMEC works to integrate all phases of construction into the Storm water Management plan. By educating contractors in all phases of construction in techniques that can be applied by them before or after we come in we have managed to integrate many functions we used to serve into the overall construction process. This saves time and money for our clients and creates a better overall awareness in the field of the need for storm water and erosion control.

RMEC employs people with farming background to run our drill seeding operations. We believe that people that have been immersed in this since they can remember are the best qualified to do the work. The pride our employees take in their work isn’t just their job it’s their family heritage. This gives RMEC a clear advantage over the competition in experience and dedication to the job.

We field engineer every installation to the conditions presented in that specific area. We have the experience to understand the dynamics of any mountain environment from high desert to pseudo rain forest. With a broad knowledge of soil composition and vegetation types and how they react in different settings RMEC can apply a set of layered techniques that are site specific. With this dynamic approach to the ever changing mountain environment we can deliver a consistent, superior product in less time for less money.
